Alpasion Wine & Lodge
Tunuyan, Valle de Uco, Mendoza. Argentina, 2013
This Project consists of a Hotel with vineyards located at the foot of the mountains. The architecture is the work of the prestigious Bórmida & Yanzón Studio. Once more, we worked in an interdisciplinary team with them. Clear views on the management of natural resources in a large area were born from teamwork. Landscaping does not entail creating beauty alone; it must provide solutions that are both beautiful and durable, that is to say, sustainable solutions that search for balance within the new intervention itself and with its surroundings. These gardens contain native plants and non-native xerophiles, and they form large isles of pure native vegetation among the vineyards. They consume a minimum amount of water, since no irrigation is used and rain is scarce (300mm per year). These are gardens filled with color, sounds, butterflies, and they endure frost, snow and Zonda winds, only to grow better. They are a joyous sight.
